If you have not turned in the Summer Bridge book, it is due by Monday, September 6. It is not too late to get that book completed!

We are working hard on procedures this week! We will continue to practice procedures, but will also begin our place value unit this week.

I am so excited about our new school year!  We will be learning Math in our classroom in a fun and exciting way!  We will be using the computer and other technology to add to our lessons. 

In Math, our first lesson is on place value, which should be a review for 3rd graders.  But then we will “ramp” it up a bit and learn place value all the way to the 100,000s place.  We will take a hands-on approach to Math lessons and will bring in real-world examples.  We will solve problems like REAL mathmeticians and explore new ways to solve problems.  We will be using base-ten blocks and other manipulatives to truly understand numbers and their values.

The most important thing in our classroom is that we keep a positive attitude at all times and remember that everyone has feelings.  We will treat everyone with the same respect that we expect to receive! 

2010-2011 will be a GREAT school year!
