Ms. Bryan
Hello all. My name is Kristle Bryan and I am the Language Arts teacher for seventh and eighth grade at Odyssey Academy.
This is my fourth year working at Odyssey Academy and living near Galveston, Texas. I am actually off island in Webster, Texas now. I am originally from the Tyler, Texas area, where I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with my bachelors in interdisciplinary studies and my education certification for fourth through eighth grade. I am very excited to return to work at Odyssey Academy this year and with this community of students.
I enjoy my time in the classroom with students learning as much as I love to hike and camp, bicycle, paint, and of course, read and write. Mostly, I write poetry with some short stories. I also love movies and satirical cartoons.
During the summer of 2009 I was able to do a bicycle ride from Spokane, Washington to San Francisco, California. It was amazing and I would love to do another ride, possibly next summer. I am trying to persuade my coworkers that it is awesome and healthy, and not too painful to attempt a ride of 800 miles.
The summer of 2010, I was able to travel to another area of America I had never seen before, Michigan. I found there a lake so huge, it appeared to be an ocean. It is no wonder early explores believed in a middle passage so fevrently. The water was fresh and cold. Well, not as cold as it could have been, according to native accounts.
Last October, Corey Steele, an awesome, humble, brilliant, amazing man asked me to marry him. I said yes, and we are scheduled to wed November 18!
This past summer, I traveled with my future mother and sister-in-laws to Colorado to spend time with family and friends. While there, we tackled Manitou incline and summit. We totally dominated, even if it did take us over 2 hours to do it.
I am an animal person! I added the exclamation point to emphasize excitement. Last February, I fostered and decided to adopt Hugo, a huge (hence the name) charpe and boxer mix from Harris County animal shelter. He and Sugar (my now 7 year old american black cat, are still working out the kinks of their relationship. He just wants to lick her and she would like to sleep alone, anywhere she chooses at anytime with out a huge dog nose waking her. :p
I also truly love what I do. Nothing is more powerful than finding out just how far a student can go in this world and what they can accomplish when given the tools to succeed.
Please call, email, text or drop by anytime to discuss the amazing things these kids will do over the school year.
Kristle
