My philosophy: “I believe that every student has the right to an education and the ability to learn in a positive, high expectation classroom.”

Expectations in My Classroom

Human Communication: Electronics must be in a student’s backpack or in the teacher bag, which teachers will pass to the next class. If electronics are needed to  used in an elective, students must have electronic use contracts signed. They will then drop off the electronic to the teacher prior to first period. If an electronic is confiscated we will follow the code of conduct.

Dress for Success: Students must wear appropriate clothing (pants, skirts, shirts, shoes and jackets) to be dressed for success each day. We will do our best as a staff to help students be successful each day.

Live Healthy: Parents may send fruit and vegetable snacks if their children would like to have a snack prior to lunch time. Students may also bring a clear plastic bottle to drink plain water out of.

Follow your Core Values: We at Odyssey believe in following our core values of respect, safety, integrity, responsibility and encouragement. These values create an environment that lacks vulgarity, disrespect and physical aggression.

Keep your New Home Clean: Our new home is beautiful and pristine. We will all do our part to keep it looking and feeling that way.

If a student can not solve a problem they have created and needs support to meet classroom expectations:

I will remind them of their goal and the steps the believe will help them achieve it.

I will give the student time to assess themselves and make changes to how they are working in the classroom in a special area of the room.

I will ask the student to refocus themselves in an alternative classroom (which will be preplanned) and ask for parent support in helping the student to acchieve success in the classroom.

I will recommend that an administrator assist in helping the student to manage their behavior.

I will seek a cooperative team environment of student, parents, teachers and administrators to assist the student in achieving success in the classroom on a daily basis.
