100 Reasons Odyssey Academy is Great!

Our 100th day of school is coming up January 31 – more to come on that!  And it’s almost Valentine’s Day.  So, we created a bulletin board to celebrate 100 Reasons Odyssey Academy is Great!  Each student is featured on a red filigree heart (because they are the most important reasons) and then everyone thought up ideas to put on hearts for the display.  It was a lot of work, but we really had fun doing it!

Parent Permission Letters

Happy New Year to everyone!!!

I want to start updating my page more frequently and make it more relevant to the students and their families.  So, a letter is going out to all parents/guardians asking permission to post pictures of students and/or their work.

Please sign and return the bottom portion of the letter as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, please email me at ldorr@odyssey-academy.com .  Also, if you would like to receive email communication, just email me and let me know.  That way I will have your correct email address.

Thanks so much and I hope your new year is starting out great!

We Caught the Gingerbread Man!

Posted in My Blog | No Comments »

Mrs. Schoppe made a Gingerbread Man for the Kindergarten classes and unfortunately she did not cook him quite long enough.  So, when she left him alone in a cupboard–he got out and ran away.

What an adventure everyone had trying to find out where he went!  First we went to the Welcome Center.  Ms. Nolasco had seem him run into the Resource Center.  We quickly went to see Ms. Snyder.  She thought she had seen a mouse in the library books–but, realized it must have been the Gingerbread Man.

We decided to check out the playground and we looked all around.  He wasn’t there!  Someone suggested he might be in Mrs. Goodman’s office.  So, off we went.  Some very lucky children found him there!  Ms. Pointe had caught him and cooked him longer–so, he could not run away again.

What fun everyone had getting to eat a bite of him.  Gobble, Gobble!!!  Yummy in our tummies!!!

Be sure to ask your Kindergartener about our adventure today!!!

Thursday night was “Back to School Night” at Odyssey Academy.  It was a fantastic evening with many returning and new students and parents meeting their new teachers, visiting their new rooms, dropping off school supplies, and filling out lots of forms.

Everyone be ready to come to school at 7:30 on Monday morning, August 22.  Breakfast will be served in our Kindergarten room from 7:30 to 7:45 only.  So arrive on time if you plan to eat breakfast!

The first day we will have a big tour of the whole school and meet all the different people we will be coming in contact with every day.  We will practice what to do in the cafeteria and how to dismiss at the end of the day.  All children should wear their Odyssey Academy uniform and comfortable tennis shoes each day.

It will be a busy time learning all our rules and procedures–but we will make sure to have some fun learning experiences too.  I am looking forward to a great year and I know all the students will be making new friends and having a wonderful time.

See you on Monday!
